BMW BEV & PHEV Tool Project

Hi all,

Over the last months I've been developing a Windows tool for a job that keeps coming up on hybrid and electric BMWs: checking the high-voltage battery properly before buying, selling or repairing a car. I'm sharing it here because I think it can be useful to other workshops and independents.

What it is
HV Tool – a single .exe for Windows, no installation, works completely offline. You connect a standard ENET cable, ignition on, one click – it finds the gateway, reads the VIN and I-Level and detects the model by itself.

High-voltage battery (SME)
SoC, SoH, pack voltage, current, power, available energy

Every individual cell voltage and temperature, grouped by module exactly as the SME reports them

Cell imbalance – spread between highest and lowest cell (Δ) and standard deviation (σ), min/max per cell and module

Insulation resistance, contactor state, cooling, charge cycles

A plain verdict at the end: OK / attention / likely fault
Rest of the car
Fault memory of every control unit, with full descriptions – 378,449 fault codes from 1,355 control-unit variants built into the .exe

Confirmed faults counted first, network "event" faults kept separate as secondary

Clear one module or all faults with one click

Live engine data per engine type: boost, rail pressure, air mass, injector corrections per cylinder, full DPF/OPF set, VANOS, lambda, ignition – with graphs, alarms and CSV recording

12 V battery (BZE/IBS): SoH, capacity, quiescent current, deep discharges, internal resistance

CBS service: remaining km/days, due dates, reset per item

Mileage check: mileage stored in every module compared, with Secure Mileage tamper flags

Clean PDF report for the customer, no personal data in it
Coverage
129 models – BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce, F/G series and the newest platforms including Neue Klasse (iX3 NA5, i3 NA0 with cell-to-pack layout), X5 G65, M5 G90/G99.

How it talks to the car
HSFZ over ENET, UDS services and each control unit's own data layout, so the values are the real ones read from the modules, not estimates.

There's also a built-in demo mode, so you can click through every screen without a car connected.
